Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween everyone! This year we had lions and tigers at our house! Raaaaarr!!! We did the annual pumpkin carving at Yaya and Papa's house...

And we let Drake pick out the pumpkins this year (with a little help from dad...)

We also did Boo at the Zoo! Here is Drake on a little tiger at the tiger exhibit...

And our little tiger slept through it all!

Here is Drake after trick or treating with dad in our neighborhood. He totally had a blast and knew to knock on the doors by the end of the night :-)

And of course, we let him have some candy- his first halloween candy ever!

I started having contractions on Friday 8/20 at 1:45 in the morning. We finally headed to the hospital and got there around 8:30. It took a while to get them to admit me, but finally- here we are! After 13 hours of labor, Porter finally decided to grace us with his beautiful presence. He is sooo perfect! He was 6 lbs. 13 ounces and 18 3/4 inches long.
Nick is one happy Daddy...

He is such a sweet little baby and is so good. Drake sure does like him too- he keeps kissing him on the head and pointing at him saying "bay-bay!" Oh how we love our two beautiful boys!

We decided it was time to get another family photo done, and at the same time get some pictures of my belly (aka Porter!). In these photos Drake is 13 months and I'm 34 weeks along. Hope you enjoy them, hopefully I will have a few more to post. You can't really tell but Drake has his little lets wrapped around my belly, that's why he's sitting so far away from me. Lol!
We were all getting a little tired by the time we took the outside photos and Drake was ready for a nap. What a trooper though!

Drake turned 11 months old on the 14th and I had to snap some photos of him. He is getting so darn big....and cuter every day!! He is so close to walking and just has to learn that he really can balance all by himself...
I know every mom says they have the most beautiful child...but I really do!

Happy Halloween everyone! This was Drake's 1st Halloween and he had a blast! Well, he actually slept through trick or treating, but he was a sweet little boy...as always! Aren't I cute?!

Splish splash Drake was takin' a bath! Our little man LOVES his baths!! Daddy decided to hop in with him this time and he had a blast. How does he get cuter every day?
He just loves the water- we might have a future Michael Phelps on our hands folks (well, about 6 feet shorter and minus the drug abuse...). :-)

2 months old already??

Drake just had his 2 month appointment today (and got his shots- eek!). I just thought I'd share how much my sweet baby has grown. He's already 11.4 lbs and 22 1/2 inches! Wow! He's roughly in the 25th percentile for his growth (he just started wearing the next size up from newborn in diapers and clothes) but is doing just great. I think he may just be a "small" kinda guy like his daddy....but don't tell Nick I called him small. Maybe "compact" is a better word, because both my boys are strong strong strong!

Proof of a Mother's Love

So this morning I needed to get ready for the day, so after Drake was fed, burped and cuddled, I put him in this cute little outfit and put him in his little chair to watch "Baby Einstein" while I got ready. He looks so cute, huh? Well, he started to fuss (and luckily I had just finished getting ready), so I went to pick up my sweet son. He looked so happy to see me! So I bent down to unbuckly his safety straps and this is what I found.... Ahhhh!!!!!!!
How?? HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN????!!!!!
How does one even go about starting a task such as this? The only answer, the saving grace, the bathtub! :-)

So, after actually undressing him in the tub and removing 5 gallons of poop, he was a clean happy baby once again.

I thought it would be wise to document this "encounter" as proof that I really DO love my child when in 13 years he claims that I am a horrible mother and never do anything for him. Then, all I have to do is bust out these pictures and say, "No, dear, I really do love you, and here is proof why. I cleaned this up!". Lol. All in a days work, right?

Drake's Blessing Day

On Sunday August 2nd Drake was blessed at church. We had some wonderful friends and family show up to support us and it was wonderful. Nick did a SUPER job blessing him! And the best part...Drake got to wear the cutest little outfit! It had a bowtie and everything...what a handsome man!

Here are the "men". I use this term loosely because it includes my husband and my brother...and to me they will always be boys. Because only crazy boys would want to to a 10 hour hike up the largest peak in Idaho in one day.Mike, Nick and Adam made the trek up Mount Borah together and had a blast doing it. Luckily, they all survived. :-)
And is it just me or does this picture look like Nick is sitting on a cliff?

I will never understand their crazy desires to do back-breaking, death-defying things like this. But I guess that's why I'm a woman (and that's why I'm smarter!). Lol. :-)

Sleepy Head

Here is Drake sleeping on Mommy for the first time. I always rock him to sleep and put him to bed, but when he gets up EARLY in the morning it's hard to get him to go back to sleep. So, when we were up at the cabin I decided I would try letting him sleep on me...and we both love it.

We took our family photos and Drake's one month photos. They turned out so good! He looks absolutely adorable! It feels so good to have a real "family" photo now. :-) Drake was a bit (ok, a lot!) fussy because he woke up hungry and it was super hot, but we luckily got some amazing photos. What a miracle that was! And I don't think there is ANY question who he looks like. Maybe our next child will look like me, because he sure doesn't! But that's ok...he's handsome like his daddy.

Here is Drake after nursing. He just tuckers himself right out after eating- it's such hard work! Here I am just loving my sweet little boy. He's growing so fast, it's so not fair! He needs to stay little forever!
We weren't joking when we said he had tons of red hair- just like his daddy! Nick decided to spike it all up after his bath and then we couldn't get it to lay back down for a day! Too cute!

Here I am holding my baby for the first time. What a wonderful miraculous feeling! I'm a Mama! Here is Drake's first photo. Daddy took this of him right when he came out.
Here are Nick and I while I was in labor. He was so wonderful through the whole thing- such a good hubby! I couldn't ask for a better husband.

Here we are before I got my epidural- trying to hold it off on the birthing ball. I'm not a big fan of contractions, but they got us quite the prize at the end! We love being parents!

Drake Nicholas Thompson was born on Sunday, June 14th at 9:44 pm. He was 7 lbs. 14 oz, 21.5 inches long and had over an inch of red hair!! He is so beautiful and such a wonderful baby! Nick and I are doing well and the delivery was great (gotta love epidurals!). Drake is a week and a day old now and is such a sweet baby. It's amazing how a baby changes your world, Nick and I will never be the same...I can't believe we ever lived without this sweet little spirit. I will post some pictures soon!

Pancake Heaven...

Nick and I finally ate at Cracker Barrell...but I got hooked on their blueberry pancakes. I bought some of their yummy mix and Nick surprised me by making pancakes on a Saturday morning. He is quite proud of himself, and so am I...especially considering his specialty is limited to mac'n cheese with hotdogs (ewwww!). But look at these glorious pancakes!

And of course, here is me eating ALL of my pancakes! Yummy yummy! Now it's become a weekend tradition (well, for the last couple weeks) for Nick to make pancakes for breakfast. Lucky me!

Baby Shower!!

Better late than never- I'm finally posting the pictures from my baby shower. :-) My mom Germaine, Lori and Jessi hosted my baby shower on 4/18/09 and it was awesome!

We played some super fun games which I apparently am horrible at... but Jessica ROCKS!

Jessica just happened to win almost EVERY game. I think she won 3 out of 4!

Nesting 101- Getting the Baby Room Ready!

Nick and I finally decided to paint the baby room. You guessed it- BLUE! Here I am in my glorious painting clothes (with day-old makeup...yikes!) supervising Nick. I don't have a picture of it, but I sat in my recliner (aka: royal throne) and gave "helpful suggestions". However, I'm not quite sure he liked my suggestions... lol. :-)
Here is Nick doing the honors of taking off the painting tape. Did it turn out OK???? Since we completely ran out of paint, we really really hoped it was ok!

Here is Nick vaccuming after we painted...and showing off his man-muscles. Only real men vaccum!

And here is the semi-finished product! Nick suprised me and put the baby stuff back in the room and set it all up. Isnt' it cute!?

I still have other decorations to put up, but I don't think there's any hope if the baby comes out a girl. :-) All I have to say is...it better be a boy!

Maui trip March 2009

Here we are eating at Cheeseburger in Paradise (yum-o!) to celebrate our arrival in Maui.The next day we all went down to play on our sweet little beach by our condo. I had decided years ago that I would wear a bikini when I was pregnant- so here I am holding true and getting some sun on my belly. And no, Nick's really not that short. He was mad because I was standing on the "tall side of the sand". Lol!

Every time we go to Maui we all go to eat at Mama's FishHouse- our favvy! We had happy bellies after that meal!

Nick and Mike rented paddle-boards (special boards that you stand up on and paddle...kinda like a surfboard). They were so excited to ride them that they played well into the dark and I had to yell at Nick from our condo to get out of the ocean when it got to the point where I could only make out his shadow. :-)

We took a family walk up to an old old cemetary on the ocean. It was so neat! There were graves that were only about 20 feet from the ocean and had been there since the 1800's. My kind of resting place. :-)

We went to visit this blow-hole for the 3rd time (we go every time!) and Nick and Mike INSISTED that they get a closer look... Much to our dismay, they were standing on the cliffs that drop off into the ocean and there were 30 foot swells coming in...and almost knocked them off many times.

Thank God for life insurance policies...

On 2/6/05 Nick and I were married in Maui on Kapalua Bay. Each time we return to Maui we visit the beach where we were married at sunset. Here is the beautiful beach where we said 'I Do' over 4 years ago...

Still in love...and with baby on the way...

The day before we left we had one last hoorah on the beach. Uncle Nick and Grady helped build a sandcastle with the kids.

Once the sand castle was finished, we had to take pics inside of it...

and of course we had to belly-bump. I think I win... not bad for 6 months along!

And then Nick and Grady got in touch with their feminie sides and shared some brotherly love in the heart-shaped sandcastle they made!

To top off the trip, Lori, Orin, me, Chelsea, and Jessie posed with some super cute parrots in downtown Lahaina. So fun!!

What a wonderful trip! I love Maui and am so blessed to get to go! Until next year, these photos will have to do...

On January 13th at 3:33 pm I felt the baby move for the first time! I was sitting at my desk kind of hunching over (bad posture-oops!) and he gave me a little kick-kick-roll. I was so excited! He doesn't move around a lot yet, but likes to let me know he's awake when I watch TV with Nick in the evenings. He especially likes to move during the show House- so maybe he'll be a doctor! It's a boy!!

It's definitely a boy! He cooperated and gave mom and dad a good shot of 'the goods'. Dad is quite proud! He keeps saying, "It takes a man to make a man!". Oh jeez, I'm going to have my hands full of testosterone! Lol!

Meet the baby!

Hello baby! We had our first OB appointment on 11/13/08 with Dr. Bryan Hodges at St. Lukes. This is the first ultrasound of the baby and I was 8 weeks 5 days along. The heartbeat was 182 (which is good) and the baby was 2 cm long! I can't wait to post more pictures as we get them!
